Bergen and beyond: from Alkmaar to Amsterdam
Bored of Bergen? No problem, because a daytrip is easy to make. Eight kilometers away is the “cheese” town of Alkmaar, well-known for its weekly cheese market on Fridays during summer months. When visiting Enkhuizen one can experience the life in a historic Dutch fishermen’s town. At the Zuiderzeemuseum there, a historical fisherman’s village, consisting of antique buildings such as a smoke-house, dwellings and shops, can be visited.
Amsterdam is easy to reach. From Alkmaar, every fifteen minutes a train departs which takes you in only forty minutes to Amsterdam Central Station.
